Rohan Long Preston Opened in 1983
The building is a two-storey converted barn made from Yorkshire stone which also used to be a barn for the auction mart which was held on the Maypole green opposite in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This was the first Rohan shop to open and also holds a popular Clearance section as well as an extensive range of products at full price.
Directions to the shop
Our shop is situated on the A65 and is easily accessed by car. The Settle/Carlisle to Leeds train stops in the village several times a day. The shop is a scenic five minute walk from the train station. There are also local bus services that stop just by the shop. Please check online as bus times change seasonally and in school holidays.
Parking
Available around the Village Greens alongside the shop and also in the Maypole pub car park if you fancy a spot of lunch.
Points of Local Interest
Long Preston is a small scenic village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales in which our shop is situated opposite the Maypole Green which is famous for the May Day dancing each year. We have two pubs in the village, The Maypole & The Boar’s head as well as a fantastic local shop/Post Office. The Post office no longer has a ea room but does offer a take-away sandwich service.
There are several walks from the village varying in distance which staff members will be more than happy to give directions for. Beyond the village, a short drive away is the picturesque village of Malham known for its wide variety of walks including Janet’s Foss, Gordale Scar, Malham Cove and Malham Tarn. However, if you’re after more of a challenge why not try the Yorkshire 3 Peaks which begins close by in Horton in Ribblesdale.
If you’re fancying a more relaxing day, five minutes away lies the historical market town of Settle which supports and array of shops, cafes, pubs and scenic walks.
